DATE_FORMAT function in mysql

This function is used to convert the date in to specified format.

Example

$sql = "SELECT * FROM messages WHERE DATE_FORMAT(date,'%Y-%m-%d') = '2006-01-02'"

In the above example
we used like this
DATE_FORMAT(date,’%Y-%m-%d’) = ‘2006-01-02′”

The above code will return the date with following format “YYYY-MM-DD”.

This function will be very useful at the times we have the datetime fields.
